KARACHI: The 74th martyrdom anniversary of the leader of the Freedom Movement and the first Prime Minister of Pakistan Khan Liaquat Ali Khan is being celebrated today.
Liaquat Ali Khan was awarded the titles of Quaid Millat and Shaheed Millat. He was born in 1896 in the house of Nawab Rustam Ali Khan of Karnal, India. He graduated from Aligarh University in 1918. In 1936, he was elected as the Secretary General of the Muslim League.
Liaquat Ali Khan worked day and night for the establishment of Pakistan as the right hand of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, on October 16, 1951, while addressing a public meeting in Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, he was shot and martyred by a person named Farid Akbar.
