Karachi: The 35th death anniversary of Saleem Nasir, a well-known actor who won the Presidential Medal, is being celebrated today. He played an unparalleled role in the drama serial Last Rock, Jangloos and Angan Tedha.
It has been 35 years since the death of Saleem Nasir, the actor who shocked the TV drama audience with his unstructured acting in a very short period of time.
Saleem Nasir was born on 15th November 1944, he has established himself as a versatile artist while acting.
Before rising to fame on television, Saleem Nasir was associated with the publication of two showbiz magazines while also holding a government job, which he later quit for the sake of art.
Saleem Nasir acted in some other dramas at the beginning of his artistic career, but the drama serial Angan Tedha gave him the peak of his fame. In Angan Tedha, Salim Nasir played the role of domestic servant Akbar.
Saleem Nasir played roles in the drama White Shadow, Jhok Sial, Zanjireen, Jazeera, Knock, An Kahi, Last Rock, Jangloos, Bandash and Nishan-i Haider (Captain Sarwar Shaheed). It is imprinted on people’s minds.
Saleem Nasir also acted in 10 films, including a Punjabi film.
On 19 October 1989, Saleem Nasir suffered a fatal heart attack, a year after his death, Saleem Nasir Kawan was awarded the Presidential Medal for Excellence in Performing Arts.
