The batsman from the island nation of Samoa created history in the East Asia Pacific Qualifier A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Samoa cricket team batsman Darius Visser set a new record by scoring 39 runs in an over during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia Pacific Qualifier match on Tuesday.
In the match played at the Garden Oval in Samoa, Darius Visser hit 6 sixes off Vanuatu’s Nalin Napiko, including 3 no-balls, for 39 runs in an over.
Earlier, in the inaugural edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup, Yurvaj Singh made a record of 36 runs by hitting 6 sixes off 6 balls off English bowler Stuart Broad.
The Samoan batsman not only set a new record in Men’s T20 World Cup competitions but also scored his first international century, playing an aggressive innings of 132 runs off 62 balls and leading the team to their second victory.
Darius Visser also kept Samoa’s hopes of qualifying for the next World Cup in 2026 alive after their win.
