The South African cricket team suffered a major setback in the Test series against Pakistan.
According to media reports, left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj suffered a back injury while warming up during the first ODI of the series against Pakistan, due to which he was unable to play the match.
Andile Phehlukwayo was named in the playing XI in place of Keshav Maharaj and part of the squad for the first ODI.
There are no reports yet about the spinner’s possible injury, but his injury has added to the Proteas’ worries. Apart from him, Enrich Nortje, Gerald Coetzee, and Lungi Ngidi, Nandre Burger and Wien Mulder are also suffering from injuries.
The upcoming series against Pakistan is very important for South Africa as they only need one more victory to ensure their place in the World Test Championship final.
