Chicago: Pharma company Abbott has warned diabetics that some of the company’s blood sugar monitoring devices may show false test results. So they may need to be replaced.
Abbott recently identified a certain number of FreeStyle Libre 3 sensors that could show false high glucose readings that could lead to potential health problems for diabetics if left undetected.
In an alert issued by the company, false high blood sugar readings can lead diabetics to take insulin when they don’t actually need it.
According to the Mayo Clinic, it can trigger hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), a condition that can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.
