Addressing a function organized by the Punjab government at Alhamra Arts Council to mark International Women’s Day, Information Minister Azma Bukhari said that for me, every day is Women’s Day. The attitude towards women in the society is very insensitive and needs to be corrected. For the first time in the history of Punjab, Women’s Day is being celebrated at the government level in Alhamra.
He said that until we talk about women’s problems, there will be no solution. Unfortunately, we live in a society where the victim of rape hides her face and the rapist roams around. The Punjab government has taken many steps for the protection of women. Examples of this are the Panic Button, Virtual Police Station, and Dhi Rani.
Azma Bukhari said that the Chief Minister says that women are his red line. Justice is not given in the courts for crimes committed against women. Such FIRs are filed that the criminal goes out of his way.
The Punjab Information Minister said that considering the problems of working women, the Chief Minister should build women’s hostels. Now is not the time when one person earns and six people eat. Therefore, now women will also have to work.
He said that in our society, a daughter, wife or sister is killed for not heating food. The Punjab government has introduced livestock cards for women in villages. The second phase of the Dhee Rani program will also be started soon. The Punjab government has given electric bikes to girls.
He said that our girls are very talented. They need a little support from home and a little support from society. In our society, we respect our sisters, daughters and mothers, but we do not respect women because they are women. The day we respect women because they are respect, our society will improve. A separate area has been reserved for women in electric buses.
Azma Bukhari said that it is fortunate for us that our Chief Minister is a woman. The Chief Justice of the province is also a woman. Those who commit terrorism will not be spared in the form of a woman card. We were also wronged but we did not attack the state. If the Chief Minister was arrested in front of her father just because of this, her father could be broken.
She said that the Aurat March has its own philosophy. As far as women’s rights are concerned, I agree with it. There should be a Aurat March. There should be a march for women. There should be social media rules and regulations all over the world. Only in Pakistan, there is no shame.
Azma Bukhari said that terrorists have no rights. If they are taken to the extreme and set on fire, the woman card cannot be used in this matter. I sympathize with Yasmin Rashid, but those who engage in politics of incitement and failed coups cannot be forgiven.
