Mumbai: Bollywood actress and politician Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ ran into trouble even before its release.
According to Indian media, Sherwani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Akal Takht have demanded a ban on the film, saying that the film is portraying Sikhs and trying to create a particular narrative against them.
SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami said in a press conference that in the past, the Sikh community has been portrayed in films in a wrong manner, which has hurt their sentiments, accusing the Censor Board of bias against the film. Requested an immediate ban and also demanded inclusion of Sikh members in the Censor Board.
Akal Takht’s Ragbir Singh also objected to the film and said that the film portrays Sikhs as ‘deliberately separatist’, part of a deep conspiracy and Kangana Ranaut’s film insults the Sikh community.
It should be remembered that Kangana Ranaut had announced the film ‘Emergency’ in 2021 and clarified that this film is a political drama, the film will finally hit the theaters on September 6 after being postponed several times.
