Lahore: Section 144 was imposed in 4 cities of Punjab and Rangers were summoned.
According to the spokesperson of Punjab Home Department, Section 144 has been imposed in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock and Sargodha. Rangers have also been called in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Attock. All kinds of political gatherings, sit-ins, meetings, demonstrations, protests and all such activities have been banned.
The services of 6 companies of Rangers have been called for in Rawalpindi and Attock on October 4 and 5, while 10 platoons of Frontier Constabulary have also been recommended to be deployed in Attock. The services of 3 companies of Rangers were requested for October 5 in Lahore
The spokesman further said that the ban will be applied from Friday, October 4 to Sunday, October 6. Section 144 is in force in Lahore from Thursday, October 3 to Tuesday, October 8. The ban was decided in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock and Sargodha on the recommendation of the district administration. In view of the security threats, any public gathering can be a soft target for terrorists. The Home Department has issued notifications for the implementation of Section 144, while letters have been written to the Federal Ministry of Home Affairs for the services of Rangers.
