Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has created new history.
Rohit Sharma has become the first captain in the world to lead the team to the finals of all four ICC tournaments.
Rohit has led India to the World Test Championship in June 2023, the One-Day World Cup in November 2023, the T20 World Cup in June 2024 and now the Champions Trophy final in March 2025.
Before Rohit Sharma, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had led India to the 2007 and 2014 T20 World Cup finals, the 2011 ODI World Cup final and the 2013 Champions Trophy final but he did not get the chance to play the World Test Championship final.
New Zealand’s Kane Williamson led his team to the 2019 ODI World Cup, the June 2021 World Test Championship and the November 2021 T20 World Cup finals, but the Kiwis have not made it to the Champions Trophy final during his tenure.
India has been undefeated under Rohit’s leadership in the 2025 Champions Trophy. The Indian team played Bangladesh in the opening group match played in Dubai on February 20, and arch-rivals Pakistan in the second match. They won against New Zealand in the third match, while India defeated Australia by 4 wickets in the semi-final.
Rohit Sharma is the third Indian captain to win the ICC trophy after Kapil Dev and Dhoni. Rohit Sharma will take to the field on Sunday to win his second ICC title. India will face the winner of the second semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa in the final.
