Islamabad: The Election Commission has decided to file a review petition on the decision of the Supreme Court regarding specific seats.
According to sources, the Election Commission will file a review petition on the decision of the Supreme Court today.
It should be noted that Pakistan Muslim League-N and People’s Party have also filed a revision appeal against the decision of specific seats. The federal government and the coalition parties had decided to file a review appeal against the decision of the Supreme Court on certain seats.
The Practice and Procedure Committee of the Supreme Court has decided to schedule the revision petition after the September vacation.
The Chief Justice disagreed with the majority judgment and opined that the summer vacation should be canceled and a review should be heard. The comfort of the Judges should not be given preference to the Constitution, it would be an injustice if the revision petition is not fixed for hearing immediately.
It should be remembered that on July 12, Supreme Court annulled the decision of Peshawar High Court and Election Commission and ordered to give certain seats to PTI. The Supreme Court declared Tehreek-e-Insaf as a party in Parliament and Provincial Assemblies.
In the case of PTI getting reserved seats, Justice Amin and Justice Naeem had also issued a dissenting judgment in which it was said that some articles of the constitution have to be suspended to give relief to PTI.
