The religious festival of the Kailash tribe, Chatarmos (Chaumos), continues with all its colors and charms in the Kailash Valley of Chitral, which is attracting tourists from all over the world to see.
The Chaumos festival is celebrated as a symbol of happiness and peace for the winter season. This festival is being celebrated in the three valleys of Kalash – Rambor, Barir and Bamboret. The uniqueness and charm of this festival attracts tourists from all over the world.
The bonfire festival was also celebrated in the historical and cultural Chaumos festival of the Kailash tribe. In this festival, boys and girls carried their small leaves and sang songs and performed various rituals. Fruits, vegetables and dry fruits were distributed to share love and affection, give a message of peace and unity.
Various rituals including Sheshao, Mandahek and Shara Bereik were performed in the festival. In the Shara Baraik ritual, goat, markhor, ram and various animal statues are made from wheat.
Steps have been taken at the government level to provide facilities to tourists interested in the festival and the Tourism Police personnel are providing all kinds of facilities to the tourists during the festival.
DG Tourism Tashfeen Haider said that the Tourism Police are performing duty on the routes leading to the Lowari Tunnel and Kailash. Tourists can get all kinds of information from the Tourism Helpline 1422 before going.
