Islamabad: From September 30, the 3-month government relief for non-protected consumers of electricity up to 200 units will end, and from October 1, the basic tariff of these consumers will increase by 7.12 per unit.
According to the sources, the tariff of non-protected consumers up to 100 units will increase by Rs.7.11 to Rs.23.59, while the tariff of non-protected consumers from 101 to 200 units will increase by Rs.7.12 to Rs.30.07. Also, the tariff of protected customers from 1 to 100 units will increase by Rs. 3.95 to Rs. 11.69, the tariff of protected customers from 101 to 200 units will increase by Rs. 4.10 to Rs. 14.16.
Sources said that for Lifeline users up to 50 units per month, the tariff per unit will be Rs 3.95, for Lifeline users between 51 to 100 units per month, the per unit tariff will remain at Rs 7.74.
Sources said that when the federal government increased the basic electricity tariff to Rs 7.12 per unit in July 2024, it had given an exemption for 3 months to consumers with up to 200 units per month, and had given a subsidy of Rs 50 billion for it.
