25 people were killed and more than 50 were injured in the suicide blast at the railway station.
According to the police, as soon as the incident was reported, law enforcement agencies and rescue teams went to the spot. The blast took place on the platform of the railway station, killing 25 people and injuring more than 50.
The blast took place during the departure of Jafar Express. Peshawar-bound Jafar Express was scheduled to depart at 9 o’clock. After the blast, an emergency was imposed in the civil hospital. In the hospital, the operation theater, doctors and paramedical staff have been urgently called for medical assistance.
The dead bodies and the injured have been immediately shifted to the hospital from the railway station. According to MS Civil Hospital, a woman is also among the dead. Spokesperson of the Civil Hospital says that 46 injured in the explosion have been brought to the Civil Hospital, Quetta, where they are being given all possible medical assistance.
A large number of passengers were on the platform at the time of the explosion
According to SSP Operations Muhammad Baloch, initially the explosion appears to be a suicide. He said that the blast occurred when a large number of passengers were present on the platform. 2 railway police officials were also injured in the blast, including Head Constable Ghulam Rasool Jamali and Head Constable Bhoral Khan.
Chief Minister Balochistan ordered an investigation
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the explosion at Quetta railway station and ordered an immediate investigation. He said that the unfortunate incident is condemnable and a continuation of targeting innocent people. Sarfraz Bugti said that the target of terrorists are innocent people, child laborers and women. Terrorists are not at all pathetic. They have reached the elements involved in several incidents of terrorism, they will also reach them.
