Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has officially decided to become a part of the “Judicial Commission of Pakistan” for which it has been agreed to nominate members from both houses of the Parliament.
The declaration of the special meeting of the political committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was issued. A comprehensive briefing was given on the nomination of two members for the Judicial Commission of Pakistan and the letter of the Speaker National Assembly in this regard.
It was stated in the briefing that the responsibilities of the 13-member Judicial Commission have been increased. Will prepare annual performance report.
The Judicial Commission is also empowered to suggest suitable names for High Court Judges, the same Judicial Commission will also constitute benches in the High Court and the Supreme Court. One-third of the members of the Judicial Commission can call a meeting of the Commission, the decisions of the 13-member Commission will be taken by a simple majority of the members.
According to Clause D, the absence of any member shall not affect the credibility of the decision of the Commission and despite the absence, the decision of the Commission shall be considered valid. The Judicial Commission of Pakistan shall be a long-term Commission. The role of the two members is very crucial.
The proposal of the Political Committee to become a part of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan was unanimously approved. This decision of the Political Committee will be presented before the Core Committee for validation and the Founder Chairman Imran Khan for final approval.
The declaration was fully agreed upon after formal approval from PTI founder chairman Imran Khan of the two names proposed to represent the opposition in the commission. In the meeting, the categorical and principled position of the party regarding the 26th constitutional amendment was also reiterated.
