In view of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest, routes to the Red Zone in Islamabad were sealed while Rangers were deployed at important government buildings.
Due to the PTI protest, Islamabad’s highways have been blocked by placing containers at various places. A heavy contingent of forces has also been deployed at the containers placed at D Chowk. A heavy contingent of police, FC, Punjab Police and Rangers have been deployed at D Chowk.
The Srinagar Highway has been blocked by placing containers at Zero Point, while the route coming from GT Road to Islamabad has been blocked by placing containers at T Cross. The Express Highway has been blocked from both sides by placing containers at Khanna Pul. Containers have also been deployed at the Expressway IA Entry. The route leading to Golra Mor GT Road has been blocked.
The road leading to Chhabis Chungi Bridge and Islamabad Airport has been blocked by placing containers, while New Margalla Road has been sealed with containers at the 11th point. Iran Avenue has been closed at D-12, while the road connecting the Expressway to Srinagar Highway has been closed from Zero Point. The road coming from Faizabad to Islamabad has been closed. GT Road is also closed from various places.
Roads leading from Rawalpindi to Islamabad are closed
On November 24, all roads leading from Rawalpindi to Islamabad have been closed due to the PTI protest. The roads were blocked by placing containers at Faizabad, while the roads leading from Rawat T Chowk to Islamabad are also closed. Citizens are facing severe inconvenience due to the closure of the roads. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration has also closed the bus stands of Pirodhai and Faizabad for two days. GT Road has been closed by placing containers at Taxila.
Motorway M-1 has been closed from Islamabad to Peshawar. Motorway M2 from Islamabad to Lahore entry has also been closed. Those traveling on M1 and M2 will be allowed only to exit. Metrobus service in Rawalpindi has been restored today. Metrobus service has been resumed from Rawalpindi Saddar Station to Faizabad.
Metrobus service and public transport closed
Public transport and metrobus service have also been closed. All bus stands in Faizabad have been sealed off by installing canals. Metrobus service has been closed in Islamabad. Metrobus service will remain closed from IJP to Pak Secretariat. Metro service will remain completely closed in the twin cities on November 24. Staff say that the metro service is being closed on the instructions of the district administration.
Exams postponed
Exams scheduled for today at Allama Iqbal University have been postponed.
High alert in hospitals
In view of the national situation, high alert has been issued in the Polyclinic Hospital and the emergency service has also been put on high alert. The leaves of the emergency staff of the Polyclinic Hospital have been canceled. The ambulance service has also been instructed to remain alert. CCMO Dr. Tanveer has been appointed as the focal person. Deputy Executive Director of the Polyclinic Hospital Dr. Abdul Wali Khan issued an official notification.
Expressway opened
Citizens are facing difficulties in transportation, due to which the police have opened the express highway. The routes from Khanna Pul and Faizabad have been opened. Containers have been removed for the convenience of local citizens. The roads will be closed again when the protesters arrive.
