Islamabad: In view of the PTI protest, it has been decided to partially suspend mobile phone services along with internet in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
After the PTI protest in Islamabad on November 24 and instructions from workers across the country to participate in it, the government has started taking strict measures to deal with the protest.
To prevent the PTI protest and the attack on Islamabad, containers have also been delivered to the twin cities, while Section 144 has also been imposed in the federal capital for 2 months. In this regard, Section 144 has also been imposed in Rawalpindi, the twin city of Islamabad.
Meanwhile, a heavy contingent of security agencies has also been called to prevent the PTI protest in Islamabad. PTI has urged its workers, leaders and assembly members to involve as many people as possible in the protest and in view of this, steps are being taken by the government and local administration to stop PTI’s power show.
Sources say that in view of PTI’s protest, mobile phone services along with internet may be partially suspended in Islamabad, Pakhtunkhwa and various districts of Punjab from November 23 (Saturday).
In this regard, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will also activate a firewall on mobile internet from November 22. Due to the firewall being active, internet service will be slow while videos, audio etc. will not be able to be downloaded on social media apps.
On the other hand, a clarification has also been issued by the PTA spokesperson that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has not yet received any instructions regarding shutting down the internet.
Regarding the steps taken to stop the PTI protest, sources say that internet and mobile services can be suspended at specific places at any time, given the situation.
It should be noted that the PTI has called for a full-scale protest on November 24 and the party leadership says that the protest will continue until our demands are accepted. Chief Minister Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur also made strong statements in this regard. On the other hand, news of PTI’s backdoor negotiations with the government to stop the protest are also coming out in the media.
