Islamabad: Tehreek-e-Insaf has challenged the Election Act Amendment Bill in the Supreme Court.
Barrister Gauhar Ali Khan has filed a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court, in which the Election Act Amendment Bill has been requested to be annulled. In the application of Article 184/3 through Advocate Salman Akram Raja, Tehreek-e-Insaf has made the Federation and the Election Commission a party.
In the petition, the court has been requested to declare the Election Act Amendment Bill unconstitutional and illegal. The Election Commission should be immediately stopped from allotting certain seats to other political parties. An order should be given to allocate reserved seats for women and non-Muslims to Tehreek-e-Insaf.
It has been stated in the petition that Tehreek-e-Insaf has submitted the lists of specific seats to the Election Commission. Tehreek-e-Insaaf has the right to get reserved seats after the July 12 court verdict.
