A team from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) visited Adiala Jail to conduct a medical examination of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The 4-member team was led by ENT specialist Dr Altaf Hussain, other members of the team included Dr Umar Farooq of the hospital’s dental department, Dr Muhammad Ali Arif of general medicine and Dr Tashfeen Imtiaz of general surgery. Imran Khan’s check-up lasted for 30 minutes.
The examination comes after recent allegations made by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), particularly its Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram, who claimed that the government has kept Imran Khan in solitary confinement and that there are reports of his deteriorating health.
Another PTI leader had claimed that Imran Khan is not even being allowed to meet his sisters or other relatives.
A PTI leader said that Imran Khan’s family doctor is not being allowed to meet him, which has raised concerns about his health.
On the other hand, speculations were rife in Islamabad that the former prime minister could be shifted to another location, but there has been no official confirmation of any such claim.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had said last month that Imran Khan would be shifted somewhere else soon.
