Islamabad: The government has rejected the proposal to give one-time exemption to vintage cars stuck at ports, saying that these cars were imported in violation of the policy.
Therefore, no such exemption can be given to importers. While discussing the summary presented by the Ministry of Commerce, the cabinet also took into account the directions and observations of the Sindh High Court. The cabinet also considered the violation of the FBR in the import of vintage cars.
However, the cabinet unanimously rejected the summary of the Ministry of Commerce, which recommended giving one-time exemption to all vintage cars stuck at various ports. The cabinet was informed that the summary had been presented to the cabinet once before, which was rejected by the cabinet.
Now, on the orders of the Sindh High Court, it is being resubmitted for a clear decision. The High Court has directed that the cabinet pass a speaking order within three weeks, however, the cabinet has once again rejected the proposal.
