Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that progress on legal action against troublemakers in the country will be reviewed weekly.
A meeting of the task force formed to investigate the riots during the sit-in on November 24 was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister said that troublemakers attacked the country’s capital during the official visit of the President of Belarus to Pakistan, which caused great embarrassment to us.
Shehbaz Sharif further said that progress on legal action against troublemakers in the country will be reviewed weekly. Those who violate the law during the sit-ins, damage government property and injure and martyr law enforcement officials should be given strict punishment as per the law. A world-class anti-riot force will be formed in Pakistan as per the requirements of the present era. A forensic lab will be added to Islamabad Safe City to bring it up to international standards and all necessary resources will be utilized for this.
The meeting was briefed that the weapons and cartridges and shells found as a result of firing and other evidence have been collected from the scene of the incident. All evidence will be sent for forensics. The process of identifying the rioters present at the scene of the incident is also being completed quickly. After identification, all the rioters will be presented in the courts.
The meeting of the task force was attended by Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, Advisor to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah and other senior officers.
