ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has met the Turkish President, in which further cooperation in trade and defense has been agreed upon.
According to the statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Press Wing, the Prime Minister had a bilateral meeting with the Turkish President on the occasion of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in which the two leaders discussed bilateral issues. On this occasion, it was agreed to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, defense and security.
Shahbaz Sharif and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reviewed the preparations for the upcoming 7th meeting of the Pakistan Turkey High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) to be held in Islamabad in the near future.
The two leaders also discussed regional and global issues, especially the ongoing genocide and dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. He called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and an end to tensions in Gaza. The Prime Minister appreciated Turkey’s strong and consistent support to the oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir, illegally occupied by India.
During the meeting, President Erdoğan praised the economic policies of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, thanks to which Pakistan’s economy has stabilized and appreciated the Prime Minister’s leadership and commitment to economic reforms. Moreover, President Erdoğan also congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his birthday.
