Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has threatened the ruling party Muslim League-N and its ally PPP that 28 days are left for the countdown if the IPPs are not reined in, they will not leave.
Addressing a press conference in Mansurah, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the Haq Du Awam Movement has been reorganized and created a public agenda, political parties are doing politics on the basis of interests and personalities, no gas and electricity. I don’t want to talk about bills, I don’t have time to take someone’s extension or seats or political manipulation.
He said that the rule of IPPs which is a system of oppression is not ready to talk, politics with personal interests has become active in the parties. The country is facing gas and electricity crisis, taxes are being imposed on the salaried class.
Hafiz Naeem said that 2 thousand billion rupees were given to IPPs for not generating electricity, there will be a nationwide strike and shutter down on August 28. As the business community supports a nationwide strike, governments grant income tax exemptions to IPPs. Out of the 5 IPPs, 4 contracts were terminated but then they were imposed on the people, lied and signed the contracts, those who were contracted should be caught, all are accomplices.
He said that if they staged a sit-in, then they are not sitting at home and are following up by making an agreement. There are 28 days left in the countdown. We want to tell the PML-N that we will not leave. The reduction of Rs. 14 per unit is not even peanuts, Sharif said. If family IPPs are left, the cost of electricity will be reduced many times.
He said that in 2017-18, IPPs gave tax exemption of 1.2 trillion rupees, salaried people levy tax on electricity and gas on petrol, this is the end of cruelty. By imposing the tax system by force, the desired tax will not be collected, the tax net is created but the government tax is not acceptable.
Hafiz Naeem further said that in the report of FBR itself, there was an annual corruption of 1299 billion rupees. Bribery was taken by understating the income tax of tax net holders. Not ready.
The Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan mentioned the situation in Bangladesh and said that in the last 15 years Jamaat-e-Islami was persecuted in Bangladesh, funerals of many leaders were taken from jails. Jamaat-e-Islami came into existence before the establishment of Pakistan in 1941, Maulana Maududi had said that nations are formed by ideology and not by homeland.
Since the establishment of Pakistan, national defense, ideological borders, public service, legislation, religion and services in the public interest have not been hidden from anyone. Talking about political struggles and sacrifices in the field of action, Jamaat-e-Islami has played an important role in creating major movements.
