Peshawar: The High Court has given big relief to Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur.
A two-member bench of Peshawar High Court comprising Justice SM Atiq Shah and Justice Fahim Wali heard the petition filed by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against the Election Commission notice.
The court suspended the Election Commission’s notice of November 20 on the petition of Ali Amin Gandapur and issued a notice to the Election Commission.
Ali Amin Gandapur’s lawyer Bashir Khan Wazir Advocate took the stand in the petition that the Election Commission has issued a notice regarding assets to the Chief Minister. The Election Commission had issued a similar notice earlier and the court had also suspended it.
Justice SM Atiq Shah remarked that once the court has suspended the notice, then how did the Election Commission send the notice? You should have filed a contempt of court petition.
The lawyer told the court that there is a difference in this notice. On November 20, the Election Commission issued a fresh notice.
Later, the court suspended the Election Commission’s notice of November 20 and sought a response from the Election Commission at the next hearing.
