Islamabad: The Supreme Court Constitutional Bench has directed Jamaat-e-Islami to approach NAB for investigation into the Panama scandal.
A 5-member Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court heard the petition. Justice Musarrat Hilali said that a JIT was formed in a specific case in the Panama scandal, but it is not known where the remaining cases went.
Jamaat-e-Islami lawyer said that this is our position, the remaining cases should also be investigated.
Justice Jamal Mandokhel said that under which law was the JIT formed in the Panama scandal case? Is there a scope for JIT in the NAB law.
If NAB does not provide redress, then go to the High Court instead of the Supreme Court. The Constitutional Bench issued notices to the Attorney General, Provincial Advocates Generals and Advocate General Islamabad on the request for restoration of the students’ union and overturned the objections.
When the Supreme Court began hearing the case against the hunting of falcons, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel excused himself from hearing the case, saying that there is a difference between hunting of falcons and trophy hunting of ibex.
The bench adjourned the hearing of the petition of former Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid against the appointments in the Gilgit-Baltistan high judiciary until next week.
