Karachi: Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Dan Stovinescu has stressed on strengthening economic cooperation and cultural exchanges between Pakistan and Romania and said that 60 years of strong diplomatic relations between the two countries have been completed.
He said this while talking to a delegation comprising Pakistan-Romania Business Council Chairman Sohail Shamim Firpo and Council Advisor Atif Farooqi.
The Romanian Ambassador acknowledged the 14-year service of the Pak-Romania Business Council for the promotion of mutual trade and cooperation and said that if the Council continues its efforts in the same way, then the mutual trade between the two countries is likely to increase manifold.
In this regard, the Romanian Embassy will cooperate with the Council at all levels.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Pakistan-Romania Business Council, Sohail Shamim Firpo, said that Romania has been included in the list of Schengen countries from April 1, 2024, after which Romania has become a gateway for Pakistani traders and industrialists to access the markets of the remaining 30 countries of the European Union.
He said that currently the volume of mutual trade between the two countries is $ 450 million and the Romanian market has the potential to consume Pakistani Omasum, dry processed intestines, sour fruit peels, surgical instruments, leather garments and textile products on a large scale.
He said that the new Romanian ambassador to Pakistan is fluent in 8 languages and is now also learning Urdu.
The council is planning to promote the Romanian language in Pakistan and Urdu in Romania. The promotion of each other’s languages in both countries will facilitate opportunities to increase mutual trade manifold.
