Islamabad: In recognition of the great success of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and its leading role in digital cooperation, Pakistan has been given the presidency of the Digital Cooperation Council (DCO) in 2026 and a seat on the Executive Committee in 2025.
According to an APP report, Jordanian Minister for Digital Economy and Business Sami Samirat announced Pakistan’s presidency and Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja is attending the fourth General Assembly of the DCO in Jordan.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Pakistan has been given a seat on the DCO Executive Committee in recognition of Pakistan’s leading role in digital cooperation.
The statement said that Minister of State Shaza Fatima Khawaja effectively represented Pakistan in the global scenario of digital development and actively participated in the DCO General Assembly and emphasized the promotion of Pakistan’s digital investment in her address to the DCO General Assembly.
He said that Pakistan is ready for global leadership in promoting the digital economy, Pakistan will lead the Digital Foreign Direct Investment Initiative and the Digital FDI Initiative in collaboration with DCO Pakistan and the World Economic Forum will be launched in April 2025.
He said that Pakistan’s digital technology strategy was highlighted internationally and emphasized on further strengthening Pakistan’s key role in the digital revolution and global partnership.
The Minister of State said that Pakistan’s growing influence in DCO is the beginning of a new era of digital development, Pakistan’s leadership in promoting the digital economy was recognized globally.
