NEW YORK,: Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is holding an important meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in New York today against the backdrop of regional and international developments.
Ishaq Dar and Wang Yi are in New York to attend a special session of the United Nations Security Council on “Pursuing Multilateralism: Reforming and Improving Global Governance”, with the Chinese Foreign Minister extending a special invitation to Dar for the UNSC session.
The two leaders will discuss bilateral relations, regional and international affairs and US President Donald Trump’s policies. Ishaq Dar addressed the ambassadors of OIC countries on Monday and discussed issues ranging from Gaza to Kashmir and from Afghanistan to Islamophobia.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to Palestine and Kashmir and said Pakistan would continue its efforts for a just and lasting peace in Palestine.
Ishaq Dar urged the OIC to take decisive steps to ensure the international recognition of the Palestinian state and full membership of Palestine in the United Nations.
Regarding Afghanistan, Ishaq warned of the growing threat of terrorism from TTP militants operating from Afghan soil and said Pakistan would take all necessary steps to protect its people.
