Rawalpindi: Today is the 9th day of protest sit-in under Jamaat-e-Islami, while the number of participants is increasing day by day.
The ongoing sit-in at Liaquat Bagh Chowk under Jamaat-e-Islami for implementation of 10 demands including continuously increasing electricity prices, additional taxes in bills, contracts of IPPs and reduction of government expenditure has entered the ninth day. Meanwhile, due to the caravans coming from all over the country, the number of participants in the sit-in is increasing.
The enthusiasm of the workers participating in the sit-in remains strong, while women and businessmen are also becoming a regular part of the sit-in with the passage of time. Today, on the ninth day of the protest, breakfast was provided to the participants of the sit-in, while banners have been displayed at many places in support of the sit-in by business organizations.
Since the beginning of Jamaat-e-Islami’s sit-in, there have been 2 rounds of negotiations with the government, but no progress has been made yet and the third round of negotiation teams from both sides has not yet taken place. There is a possibility of contact.
Meanwhile, after going to Qatar to participate in the funeral prayer of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has returned home.
