North Waziristan: 9 terrorists including 2 commanders killed in exchange of fire with forces
Nine terrorists including 2 commanders were killed and 7 injured in an exchange of fire with security forces in North Waziristan.
Sources said that the clash took place during an intelligence-based operation in the Barho Khel area of Mir Ali Tehsil, when security forces launched the operation after receiving intelligence information about the presence of about 25 militants, who had gathered for a meeting in the area.
As soon as the security forces reached the spot, a fierce exchange of fire started. The dead included militant commanders Abdul Haq and Moin. 7 militants were also injured during the operation. According to sources, arms and ammunition have been recovered from the spot.
The slain militants were allegedly involved in several activities including target killing of innocent civilians. After these counterattacks, the security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Security and district administration officials also spoke to residents and urged them to prevent militants from entering the area so that the locals are not disturbed and can live peacefully.
No statement was issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in this regard.
Militant hideouts targeted
Meanwhile, sources said that security forces had targeted militant hideouts in two strikes carried out in South Waziristan’s Barmal tehsil the previous night.
In the attacks carried out around 10 pm, a house used by militants in the Munra area was targeted, but no casualties were reported.
Sources said that Munra has become a stronghold of militants, mainly members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who have taken refuge in the area.
Earlier on Friday night, a house was targeted in a similar operation in the same area, resulting in the death of two TTP militants, including local commander Noor Muhammad.
