Gaza: The Palestinian resistance organization Hamas has refused to hold any further talks with Israel until the prisoners are released.
According to the British news agency, senior Hamas leader Bassem Naim said that there will be no talks with Israel regarding a ceasefire until the Palestinian prisoners agreed to under the agreement are released.
On Saturday, Hamas released 6 Israeli hostages under the ceasefire agreement, in exchange for which Israel was to release 620 Palestinian prisoners. However, the Israeli Prime Minister announced the postponement of the release of the prisoners, saying that this decision was made due to Hamas’ violations of the agreement.
A statement issued by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said that Hamas is using the release of Palestinian prisoners for propaganda and is insulting Israeli prisoners, which is why the release of the prisoners has been postponed.
Hamas leader Bassem Naim said that the mediators must ensure that Israel complies with all the terms of the agreement, and that Palestinian prisoners are released as soon as possible, otherwise negotiations will not be possible.
Despite the ceasefire in place since January 19, Hamas and Israel have been accusing each other of violating the agreement, but the ceasefire agreement remains in place.
