US President Donald Trump has said that no one is evicting Palestinians from Gaza.
According to Israeli media reports, US President Donald Trump told the media during a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin that no one is evicting any Palestinians from Gaza. President Trump sarcastically called Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer a Palestinian.
President Trump said that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was previously Jewish but has now become a full-fledged Palestinian. Earlier, President Trump had spoken in a statement about a plan to take Gaza under American ownership, evict Palestinians and transform Gaza into a modern and sophisticated settlement. The proposed plan was rejected by the international community.
Egypt, Jordan and the Gulf countries had expressed concern over any such plan, saying that any such plan would destabilize the entire region. In response to this plan, Arab states endorsed an Egyptian pledge of $53 billion for the reconstruction of Gaza, which would prevent Palestinians from being expelled from the territory.
