Chasing Nigeria’s 272 in the ICC T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier Group C match played in Lagos on Sunday, the entire Ivory Coast team was all out for just 7 runs and lost the match by a huge margin of 264 runs.
Batting first in the match, Nigeria scored 271 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Nigeria’s Salem Slaw retired after scoring 112 runs off 53 balls, while Suleiman Runsiwe and Isaac Okpe stood out with 50 and 65 runs.
Chasing the target, the Ivory Coast team was all out for just 7 runs in 7.3 overs.
This is the first time that a team has been all out in single figures, the previous lowest total was 10 runs all out, which was recorded twice.
Nigeria also became the third team to win a T20 International match by a large margin by defeating Ivory Coast by 264 runs.
Zimbabwe is the first and Nepal is second among the teams to win a T20 International match by a large margin.
Zimbabwe defeated Gambia by 290 runs last month, while Nepal defeated Mongolia by 273 runs at the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou in September 2023.
