Netflix has acquired the digital rights of the South Indian film ‘Pushpaa 2: The Role’ for a whopping sum of Rs 275 crore. The deal is one of the biggest digital rights deals in the history of Indian cinema and reflects Netflix’s growing interest in South Indian content.
The phenomenal pre-business success of the film has already set new records in the industry, and now the return of Allu Arjun has created even more excitement. The film has already collected Rs 1085 crores before its release, predicting it to be a huge success.
According to industry experts, Netflix’s huge investment reflects confidence that the film will be a success similar to or even bigger than Pushpa: The Rise. Netflix’s decision comes after Allu Arjun won the National Award recently, which has boosted the franchise nationally and internationally.
The digital rights of the film Pushpaa 2 are part of its non-theatrical package, with a total value of Rs 425 crore. The deal underscores the growing importance of digital platforms in the film industry.
Pushpa 2: The Role is directed by Sikmar and produced by Maitri Movie Makers. The film is slated for a global release on 6 December 2024, while its theatrical rights have been sold across territories for Rs 640 crore.
