Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took notice of the absence of federal ministers during the National Assembly session and directed them to ensure their attendance in the proceedings of the House.
Taking notice of the absence of federal ministers from the House, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote a letter to all federal ministers in which he directed the ministers to ensure their attendance in the parliamentary proceedings.
Shehbaz Sharif said in the letter that the absence of federal ministers from the House harms the principles of accountability and the process of transparency. The absence of ministers from the House is also likely to damage the public’s trust in democratic institutions.
He further said in his letter that it is not acceptable for ministers to assign constitutional responsibilities to their subordinates, and this practice also shows a lack of seriousness in governance on the part of ministers.
Shahbaz Sharif directed the ministers present in the parliament to ensure their presence in the chamber for official matters, while also instructing the ministers not to attend other meetings during the question hour and debate in the house.
It should be noted that federal ministers remained absent from the National Assembly session on December 12 for the second consecutive day, which was criticized by opposition leader Omar Ayub and other PPP leaders.
The opposition leader said that we have a forum for the accountability of the government, this is the time for questions. If they do not take it seriously, then what governance and what accountability?
Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, while announcing the adjournment of the session, said that the house will not function like this, if the ministers do not come next week, the house will not function.
The Deputy Speaker had said that yesterday too, we had given a ruling that we would write to the Prime Minister, the government is not serious, the house will not function like this.
