Multan: Five people died and more than 30 were injured in a fire that broke out due to a gas leak in a tanker filled with LPG gas in Hamidpur Chowk area of Fahad Town.
According to rescue sources, four people died in the fire, while more than 30 people were injured and were shifted to Nishtar Hospital.
As soon as the incident was reported, rescue teams immediately reached the spot and brought the fire under control after a five-hour long operation.
According to rescue officials, the tanker explosion caused the fire to spread to some houses in Hamidpur settlement, which damaged several houses and caused the roofs of the houses to collapse. Livestock in some houses also caught fire.
More than 16 vehicles participated in the rescue operation, the cooling process is still ongoing.
On the other hand, an emergency has been imposed in Nishtar Hospital, additional beds and staff have been arranged under the leadership of Nishtar Hospital Emergency Director Dr. Zahid. Hospital sources say that four of the injured who died during the transfer to the hospital have also been taken to the hospital.
Rescue officials say that there is a risk of further increase in the death toll and the situation will be controlled until the cooling process is completed.
