Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi is all set to take over as the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) after Jay Shah.
According to Indian media, this year ACC will confirm the election of Mohsin Naqvi as chairman for the next 2 years. Mohsin Naqvi will assume the new responsibility after Jai Shah leaves the post.
Another Indian TV has claimed that Mohsin Naqvi will be elected as the new chairman of ACC while the decision will be announced this year.
It should be noted that Jay Shah, who has held the chairmanship of ACC for three consecutive times, has recently been appointed as the unopposed chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). After taking charge of the ICC, Jay Shah will have to step down as the chairman of the ACC.
Also keep in mind that the ACC president is made on a rotation policy. The current ACC president and Indian cricket board secretary Jay Shah got a one-year extension in January this year.
Jay Shah was elected ACC president for the third time in a row this year. Earlier, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan held the post till January 2021.
