Islamabad: The Supreme Court issued a notice to the Punjab government on the bail application of Hamad Nazir, the named accused in the May 9 incidents of Lahore.
Justice Athar Manullah and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah heard the bail application of accused Hamad Nazir.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah inquired what is the charge against the accused? The lawyer for the petitioner said that the accused is accused of injuring the police constable by beating him with a baton, but according to the medical report, the policeman was injured by stone pelting by the mob.
Justice Athar Manullah inquired whether the accused was present at the spot. The lawyer said that the accused is a shopkeeper and was not present at the spot. Justice Azhar Minullah asked whether there is any CCTV footage of the presence of the accused.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah asked what evidence of the presence of the accused has been presented? The accused’s lawyer said that no CCTV was produced and there was no evidence.
The court adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period while giving notice to the Punjab government.
