Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade has called it quits from international cricket and will now be coached for the series against Pakistan.
According to media reports, Matthew Wade, who represented the Kangaroos in the T20 World Cup in June this year, was part of the Australian squad, but he was dropped after being overlooked for the tour of England in September.
Matthew Wade retired from red ball cricket after Tasmania reached the Sheffield Shield final in March.
The former cricketer will continue to play with the Hobart Hurricanes and some franchise tournaments around the world.
Matthew Wade said on the occasion, “I was fully aware that my international career was probably over after the last T20 World Cup, which was anticipated while discussing retirement and coaching with George Bailey and Andrew Macdonald. The talks were ongoing for months.
Matthew Wade has played 36 Tests, 97 ODIs and 92 T20Is for Australia between 2011 and 2024.
