GAZA: In Gaza, the Islamic resistance movement Hamas announced a new leadership after the martyrdom of its leader Yahya Sinwar.
According to a foreign news agency, Hamas decided to adopt the old strategy after the successive martyrdom of top jihadi leaders including Ismail Haniya and Yahya Sinwar in Israeli attacks and entrusted the leadership of the organization to a five-member committee.
Hamas has decided not to appoint a new leader to replace the martyred Yahya al-Sinwar. The 5-member committee consists of Khalil Al Haya, Khalid Meshaal, Zahir Jibrin, Shura Council chief Muhammad Darwish and a fifth unknown person whose name has not been disclosed yet. Among these five are three local heads of Gaza and two other officials.
According to the report, Khalil al-Hiya, responsible for the Gaza Strip, Zahir Jabarin, responsible for the West Bank, Khalid Meshaal, the organization’s foreign affairs manager, Mohammad Darwish, the head of the Shura Council, and the fifth member, who is the secretary general of the organization’s political office. The name has not been disclosed. All these officials are present in Qatar, where the political office of Hamas is established.
This committee will have the status of a war council and will lead Hamas until the organizational elections in March 2025.
It should be noted that even after the martyrdom of Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and his successor Abdulaziz al-Runtisi in successive Israeli attacks in 2003, Hamas did not reveal the name of its leader.
