Malaysia’s transport minister said on Friday that the search for the wreckage of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which mysteriously disappeared 10 years ago, will be resumed.
According to foreign news agency Reuters, flight MH370 is a Boeing 777 aircraft with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board. The plane departed from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014 and mysteriously disappeared. According to satellite data, the plane was last seen over the Indian Ocean west of the Australian city of Perth.
According to Reuters, Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke said at a conference that an agreement has been reached with Ocean Infinity to resume the search for the missing plane and that Ocean Infinity will receive $70 million if it finds the plane’s wreckage.
The flight was carrying more than 150 Chinese passengers, whose relatives have sought compensation from Malaysia Airlines, Boeing, the plane’s engine maker Rolls-Royce and Allianz Insurance Group.
The search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 was one of the largest underwater operations in aviation history and involved countries including Australia, Malaysia and China.
