Rawalpindi: Lt Col (Retd) Akbar Hussain of Pakistan Army was court martialed and sentenced for inciting soldiers to mutiny.
According to ISPR, retired Pakistan Army officer Lt. Col. Akbar Hussain has been sentenced by a General Court Martial under the Pakistan Army Act 1952 for inciting military personnel to mutiny.
The competent court found him ‘guilty’ of these charges and sentenced him to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment on 10 May 2024 through legal process, under which his rank has also been confiscated on 26 July 2024.
Earlier, former Major (retd) Adil Farooq Raja and former Captain (retd) Haider Raza Mehdi were also booked by the Military General Court Martial under the Pakistan Army Act 1952 under the Pakistan Army Act 1952 for espionage, actions against the security and interests of the state. He was convicted on charges of breaching the Secrets Act 1923.
The competent court found both Adil Farooq Raja and Haider Raza Mehdi guilty on October 7 and 9, 2023 through legal process and sentenced them to rigorous imprisonment of 14 and 12 years respectively. The ranks of both the persons were also forfeited from November 21, 2023.
