Kuwait City: Kuwait has announced to compensate the relatives of the foreign workers who died in the fire two days ago.
Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahd announced that compensation would be paid to each of the 49 people who died in the Mangaf apartment building fire.
40 of the 49 laborers who died due to tension in the residential building belong to the Indian state of Kerala, while 3 Filipino laborers also lost their lives in this accident.
According to rescue officials, 30 people are injured, most of them are in critical condition.
Kuwait’s Minister of Interior and Minister of Defense Sheikh Sheikh visited the affected area and said in a press release that the bodies of the victims will be transferred to their native areas by military aircraft.
The Philippine Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has confirmed the deaths of three overseas Filipino workers. The three who died of smoke inhalation were part of a group of 11 OFWs, Immigration Secretary Hans Leo J. Caddick said.
