In the ongoing tension in Karam district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for several days, the parties were ready for a 7-day ceasefire due to the efforts of the government jirga, but despite this, intermittent firing continues from both sides, which has taken the death toll to 73.
One person was killed and 4 were injured as a result of firing at night between tribes divided on sectarian lines in Kurram.
Despite the efforts of the government jirga, reports of bilateral firing were received from different areas.
Authorities admitted that steps have been taken by both sides to abide by the conditions of the 7-day ceasefire, including the release of 5 female hostages on one side and the return of 2 bodies on the other.
Although authorities are working behind the scenes to control the situation and prevent further escalation, the absence of political leadership was conspicuous in such a situation, as the political leadership was expected to work towards a permanent ceasefire between the parties.
