Rawalpindi: Jamaat-e-Islami’s protest sit-in has entered its eighth day, while two rounds of negotiations have been held with the government, in which no practical progress has been made yet.
Today, the eighth day of Jamaat-e-Islami’s sit-in has started for the implementation of 10 demands, including the massive increase in electricity prices, unnecessary taxes, contracts with IPPs and ending government expenditure. The enthusiasm of the participants is palpable.
In the ongoing protest sit-in at Liaquat Bagh Chowk, Rawalpindi, breakfast was organized for the participants as usual on Friday morning, while heavy police force is also deployed in the surrounding areas of the sit-in.
Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said in his address to the participants of the sit-in yesterday that 25 crore people and overseas Pakistanis have pinned their hopes on the sit-in. America and Israel are terrorists, their slaves are imposed on Islamic countries, people should rise up against them.
He said that the sit-in will continue until the demands are implemented, the direct way for the rulers is to accept the demands, otherwise we will announce the action plan after 2 days. If in the negotiations truth lies and milk milk and water water, then negotiate in front of the media. The government must have thought that they will stop one day and later say it is the right of 25 crore people, but you have made this sit-in a successful and historic sit-in.
