500 volunteers from all over the world had set off for Gaza on more than 40 boats with aid supplies
Israeli forces also intercepted the last boat of the convoy of ships loaded with aid supplies as it attempted to enter Gaza.
According to the international news agency Reuters, the boat named “Marinette” was flying the Polish flag and had 6 volunteers on board, who belonged to Germany, Turkey, Oman and Australia.
The boat was only 42.5 nautical miles from the Gaza coast when the Israeli navy stopped it and transferred it to the port of Ashdod, and all the volunteers were also detained.
Marinette, the last remaining boat of the Global Sumud Flotilla, was intercepted at 10:29 am local time, approximately 42.5 nautical miles from Gaza.
These volunteers include world-renowned lawyers, parliamentary representatives and human rights activists. Global environmental activist Greta Thunberg and former Pakistani senator Mushtaq Ahmed are also among them.
Israeli media have confirmed that the arrested volunteers are being transferred to Ketziot prison in the Naqab Desert, where they will remain incarcerated until deportation is complete. Preparations have already been made to deport several European citizens.
It should be remembered that Israel has imposed a blockade on Gaza since October 7, 2023, and is aggressively blocking every attempt to deliver aid to the besieged Palestinians in the war-torn region.
