JERUSALEM,: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has admitted that Hassan Nasrallah’s martyrdom and the pager attacks in Lebanon in September this year were carried out by Israel.
According to the Times of Israel report, Benjamin Netanyahu admitted at a cabinet meeting that he was behind the pager and walkie-talkie attacks on Hezbollah.
Netanyahu said that the martyrdom of Pager and Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was carried out despite the opposition of senior Defense Department officials and that those responsible are in the political arena.
According to the report, Netanyahu did not criticize Israel’s military and intelligence chiefs, as well as the recently fired Defense Minister Yves Gallant, while admitting this.
It should be noted that Israel did not openly admit responsibility for the explosions of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah in Lebanon on September 16.
Hezbollah had confirmed on September 28 that Hassan Nasrallah had been martyred in the attack a day earlier and a day later his body was recovered from the rubble of the destroyed building.
The report stated that despite the indiscriminate Israeli bombardment, Hassan Nasrallah’s body showed no sign of any major injuries, suggesting that he was killed by the force of the blast.
Israel claimed that Hassan Nasrallah was targeted by bunkerbuster bombs in Hezbollah’s underground headquarters, which also killed his most important aide, Commander Ali Kirk.
Later, Hashim Safiuddin, the strongest candidate to succeed Hassan Nasrallah, was also martyred by Israel in an attack, and after that, Qasim Naeem, the interim head, was elected as the new head of the organization.
