Israeli Defense Minister Katz has admitted that Israel killed Ismail Haniyeh, the former head of the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas, in the Iranian capital Tehran earlier this year.
According to foreign news agencies, Katz said at a ceremony at the Iranian Defense Ministry that we will attack the Houthis in Yemen.
He said that we will behead the Houthi leadership, just as we did with Ismail Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar and Hassan Nasrallah in Tehran, Gaza and Lebanon. We will do the same in Hodeidah and Sanaa.
It should be noted that this is the first time that Israel has admitted to the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh. The martyred Hamas leader was attacked at his residence in Tehran on July 31. He was in Iran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense, Katz said that whoever stands against Israel or raises a hand against us will have his head cut off, while the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) will hold them accountable.
Although Tel Aviv is responsible for the attacks that targeted Yahya Sinwar and Hassan Nasrallah, this is the first admission by an Israeli official that he was involved in the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh on Iranian soil.
It should be noted that on December 19, Israeli forces attacked Houthi positions, ports, oil facilities and power plants in Yemen, killing at least nine people.
Tensions between the two rivals reached a peak in October after the assassination of the martyred Hamas leader in Tehran, when Iran launched dozens of missiles at Israel.
Although Israel claimed to have destroyed most of the missiles in the air, several missiles nevertheless fell inside Israel, but there were no reports of large-scale casualties.
Tehran claimed that the attack was in response to the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, Revolutionary Guards commander Abbas Neelfourshan, and the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July.
It should be noted that the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas, while confirming the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, said that Ismail Haniyeh was targeted by Jewish agents, and that the attack was a cowardly act that would be retaliated against.
Senior Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said that Israel would not be able to achieve its goals with the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, and that it would now wage an “open war” to liberate occupied Jerusalem, and that Hamas was ready to pay any price for it.
