Due to the sit-in and demonstration of Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamaat-e-Islami, Section 144 is in force across Islamabad today, while barriers have been erected on important roads.
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has announced a sit-in in Islamabad today against rising electricity prices. A large number of people have started arriving in Islamabad to participate in this.
The main highways of Islamabad, Sarina Chowk, Dastur Highway and Faizabad, have been blocked by placing containers. By enforcing Section 144 across the city, public processions are also banned.
On the other hand, Section 144 has been implemented in Punjab for 3 days from today. According to the notification of Punjab Home Department, the ban will be applied from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28. The ban has been imposed in view of the threat of terrorism.
According to Punjab Interior Department, any public gathering can be a soft target for terrorists in view of the security threats in the current situation.
