PESHAWAR: The High Court has issued notice to PTA and Federal Secretary IT on a petition against slowing down of internet in the country.
A 2-member bench of Peshawar High Court consisting of Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Mohammad Ejaz Khan heard the petition filed against slow internet, in which the petitioner’s lawyer Noman Mohib Kaka Khel argued that the internet is extremely slow across the country. Due to which users are facing problems.
Justice Ijaz Anwar inquired what is this firewall?, to which the lawyer said that it is something that can block and control anything on a digital platform. If firewall is installed then audio and video won’t download when wanted. Only messages will be sent.
The court remarked that there is a problem in the internet for many days, to which the lawyer replied that there is a problem in the whole of Pakistan and the government is not doing anything in this regard. The court asked whether the government also does not know why this is happening? The government is saying that it is slowed down by the use of VPNs.
The lawyer told the court that the government has forced people to use VPN. Using a VPN is risky, but now there is no other option.
Later, the court issued a notice to the PTA and the Federal Secretary IT.
