LAHORE: On the petition against the shutdown of internet across the country, the Lahore High Court ordered the lawyer of the federal government to appear at 12 noon after taking instructions from the relevant authorities.
High Court Justice Shakeel Ahmed heard the petition of citizen Nadeem Sarwar.
The petitioner is of the view that internet and social media apps have been shut down in the country without any notice or reason due to which business and even every sphere of life is being affected. Blocking the internet is also a violation of fundamental rights.
Drawing attention to the losses caused by the alleged shutdown of the Internet, it has been said that Pakistani companies and youth are earning billions of rupees in foreign exchange from IT.
In the petition, it has been requested that the decision of the federal government to shut down the internet should be annulled, orders should be issued to restore the internet completely and immediately in the country.
